Zeitgeist 2010 Google List

Google have released a report, which they do every year called the Zeitgeist Google List. This is a list of the most common search terms which people have entered into the Google Search Bar over the course of the year. This years shows how peoples curiosity took hold of them and 'Chatroulette' the anonymous video chat site where you can simply press next to move onto someone else to talk to has become increasingly popular, having more searches than the Apple Ipad which was released earlier this year and it was also beaten by 'Formspring' a site where you can ask someone a question anonymously or shown and they answer it.

Spotify

A couple of weeks ago i got invited to join Spotify. Spotify is a software which you download onto your computer and you are able to search for music off of the internet and put them into playlists which you can create a number of. Its free unless you wish to pay for Spotify Premium which is only £9.99 a month but means your list of music will be available for your when you arent connected to the internet and so you can put the songs onto your Ipod or other Mp3 player. Spotify is also great for if you dont want to clog up your computer, you have your own sign in name and password and every time you do sign in your playlists are there ready to be played.
A new addition to Spotify is that you can link it to your Facebook account, which means whoever else has Spotify on your friends list appears in a little box on the right hand side and you can view and play their playlists as well as posting and reccomending songs.
To me there is only one downside to using spotify, the adverts, which you have to listen to unfortunatly untill they finish but it however means that the music is there for you free and the adverts pay for it to be. You can however pay a pound for a night for spotify to be ad free, incase you have a party or something and you wish to listen to your spotify playlists without it being interupted.

Fans to buy 'shares' in their favourite bands

After reading the Showbiz Part of Sky News earlier i came across an article about a UK music company giving fans the chance to put shared into their favourite band, from as little as £10. this will allow fans to not only have a financial part to play in the band but it could also mean them earning a profit on how many record a band may sell.
It has been tester in france where someone put £5,000 worth of shares into a band and they recieved over £100,000 back after they sold over a million records.
There may be, however, disadvantages to this approach. For example the band may not be very successful and then if youve invested money into them you may end up being dissapointed, another is that if it is a very popular band that you invest in and there are alot of shareholders aswell as you, your not going to gain alot.
However the approach has been proven to work, so is this the future of music?

Old School Apple

Apples first ever computer was put on auction in London and was sold for £133,250!

Before reading about this i didnt even think that Apple existed before the ipod and the mac computer as i hadnt really looked into it, but it makes sense to see such an old style computer by them to see where they started off cause the couldnt have just created a perfect mac computer as they are today.

Hoax calls cost lives as well as alot of money

I read in the paper a couple of days ago of how a woman called the 999 emergency services as someone had stolen her snowman! She was called irresponsible and was given advice by Kent police of real 999 emergencies. The call could have cost someones life if someone couldnt get through cause of the stupid phone call and it was a real emergency which a snowman being stolen definetly isnt.
I also read in the times a while ago how hoax emergency calls are costing the fire brigade £42 billion a year. hoax calls about fires, terrorist attacks and traffic accidents are the reason for this huge cost and the article says how the biggest offenders live in London. London is a big city and so anything like a terrorist attack in the city could hurt alot of innocent people and so calls like this as well as the snowman incident are irresponsible. Last year 21,000 incidents which were checked out ended up being a hoax. Within the article is says how attending an unknown hoax call costs the government £1,970 as half the countrys firement and firewomen are paid per call out. Our countrys in enough debt and its because of this stupidity that its happening.
In my opinion the call should be traced and the idiot behind the call should be fined the amount that its cost for the fake call out.

Student Fees Protest

Thursday night i watched the news to learn the final decision on the student fees.
They voted to increase the fees to up to £9,000 a year for universities and so students went down to Parliament Square where a demonstration turned into a major riot, and to be fair they had every right to cause now students are going to leave university with five figures worth of debt and so all their working life which they have worked hard for so they get a good job which a degree is recognised in so they can earn quite a bit of money their just going to be paying it all back. To me this is so wrong, us students are going to struggle to afford to own our own houses when theres people with no ambition in life who chose not to work get given a house to live in! or they get pregnant as an easy way out, i know this sounds like an episode of jeremy kyle but its those scum bags who get given everything and wont work for anything. So why should they get money that weve worked hard to earn which gets taken away from us in taxes and gets handed to them on a plate even if theyve never contributed anything to the system.
Also another issue with this is the fact that Charles and Camilla were taken in their car throuigh the riots, why the hell did that happen? A riot! Not a royal congregation so therefore they shouldnt expect anything less than what they got in my opinion. Also it was kind of a kick in the teeth for the students as were working hard so we earn a decent amount when we leave university when they are there sitting in a Rolls Royce which was probably paid for by tax payers or their fortune which they havent really had to work for as its been inherited. Surely there was another way around the riots or they could have gone to the theatre another night maybe.

50 Greatest Plastic Surgery Shockers

I recenty watched on E4 'The 50 Greatest Plastic Surgery Shockers' the show showcased some of the most weird surgeries people have recieved and some of the ones that have gone completely wrong.
I was astonished at the lengths these people have gone to to look like someone or something, for example there was a man who came from a background where his ancestors believed that having features like a cat meant you were a high being, and so he had surgery as well as a full body tattoo to look like a cat his surgery included having his top lip cut in a way so it went up to a point, he had implants around his nose and cheek area and his teeth done so they look like fangs.

The one i mostly couldnt believe was the one they numbered 1, being the most shocking. At the age of 28 a korean singer decided she wanted plastic surgery on her face, she became that obsessed with it that she moved to japan to have further operations on her face, she had that much that her face became enlarged and enlarged but she still thought she was beautiful. The surgeons who gave her the face injections refused to giver her anymore and so they gave her her own syringe and silicone so she could do it herself so that they wouldnt be reliable for anything that went wrong in the end. She eventually ran out of money after spending so much for her obsession and so she injected cooking oil into her face hoping that it would give the same effect as the silicone. Her face ballooned so much that she was on a reality tv show and she recieved donations so that she could get corrective surgery to reduce the size of her face. The surgeons took out 60g of foreign sunbstance from out of her face and 200g out of her neck. However she is still majorly scarred and disfigured.

Monsters in prison getting to splash out on themselves for Christmas

A few days ago i was reading through The People newspaper and came across an article on how britain's worst killers such as Ian Huntly are spending hundreds of pounds on themselves for Christmas whilst in prison. The are buying luxuries like Playstaion 3 and Wii Fit. This is happening whilst 'cash strapped' britons are struggling to pay for christmas. 'Well wishers' give them donations to pay for the goods and it was said in the article how these monsters are probably going to have a better christmas than most ordinary people and the prison officers who have to work there on Chrismas day.
The article also says how Steven Barker, who was jailed for 12 years last year for conrtibuting for the injuries which Baby P suffered which led to his death has built up over £2,000 in his account from donations off these 'well wishers' and so has Ian huntly who murdered Jessica and Holly in 2002.
To me this should'nt be happening, they have taken away innocent peoples lives and therefore shouldnt be able to have this luxury in fact no luxury at all and any donations they do get or the money they earn within the prison should go to their victims families.
